Crayfish eat small fish and insects but, when avalible, they will eat dead plants and animals.

 

Where do crayfish live?

Crayfish live in small tunnels that they build themselves or hide from larger fish and other preditors under rocks.

 

Do we use crayfishes for anything?

Mmm Mmm, you bet! Crayfish are very good eaten! We also use them for bait.

 

Are crayfish scary looking?

Well if you think a lobster is scary looking then you will think a crayfish is too. They are 1-16 inches long with 4 pairs of walking legs that are attached to it's thorax. The crayfish has a pair of pinchers to capture and rip appart food before eating it.

 

Does the Crayfish live as long as humans do?

NO, not even close! The crayfishes' average life is 20 months.
